The game hopes for faster rounds and tighter games without having players optimizing long combos or hitting hard-to-do links. It does this by giving the player only 3 attack buttons and smaller health pools. Sort of like how Divekick did, but instead of being all about getting a single hit, its like 5 or 6. The game strips out core mechanics of fighting games in an effort to make the genre both accessible and focused on the tension one feels in a close game in something like Street Fighter. The short answer is: Fantasy Strike is a fighting game based off the Yomi universe, characters that are in most of Sirlin’s board and card games. So, what IS Fantasy Strike? These fires have been fanned by controversies around the game’s payment structure (currently $5/month on Patreon for Beta access with no firm release date, rumours of being FTP at launch, loot boxes oh my) and animations (some allegations of straight up stealing animations from popular fighting games).
